Breaking the rules!

Ok, I know I have only been quilting now since 2010. I have read many how to books about quilting, joined www.quiltingboard.com ( which I LOVE!). However I never knew that I could go completely against everything that I have read and put together blocks that did not include the " everyday" pieces. Squares, half squares, drunkards path, triangles. I don't have to limit my creatives with these shapes. It has been a complete Ahhhhaa moment for me. I have spent the better part of the day looking a picture of some really amazing quilts.
Unfortunately I haven't been able to get out to the studio much this past week. My algebra homework has been kicking my behind,  I had a slight family emergency ( everything is fine now) and on top of it all, my back and body pain has come back with a vengeance. Hopefully, tomorrow I will be able to spend some quality time out in my sanctuary and see if I can work on fixing the vibration problem I am having with Rose.

107 yr old "lady" being a pain.

So for the better part of today I put my "new" stretched Class 15 Singer onto my quilt frame. This in and of it self was not an easy undertaking. I had to drill new holes, do some wiring work, move the bars. etc, etc. ( Must remember to have DH with me when I do this again). I get it all set up turn on Rose to give her a test drive, and she is vibrating...the whole frame and everything! I have tried to put cork underlay under her hoping that the vibration would stop. It lessen it but not much. Does anyone know what I can do to stop the vibration? I really do not want to put my Singer 241-11 back onto the frame, Berta weighs close to like 60 lbs.. Not to mention that the harp on Berta is only 11 inches where as Rose is 16.

Yes I love electrical tape. =)

The beginnings of a remodel.

Well, I spent half of today looking for french doors for my studio. I went to Lowes, and a couple of building supply places. Want to know how hard it is to find a door for a converted shed..Hard, and expensive! After searching and searching, I finally found a french door ( well kinda) that is made especially for sheds. So now, I have the task of completely packing up the studio moving all of the furniture out of it to get ready for the big remodel of it. I still haven't figured out where I am putting my sewing table or quilt frame.

I also have to retro fit my carriage for Rose to fit right onto it. I will be doing that tomorrow. I hope to post pictures of Rose soon. I also hope that if everything work out right that I can FMQ with Rose, a top that i have been working on for a while.
This a before picture.
This is what the inside of the studio looks like right now. And yes those are cinder blocks. Hey it works!

I have never blogged before. I never really understood exactly why people blogged or why people where interested in reading about someones else life. Then it hit me, umm I am one of those people who read about others! Granted it is on Facebook, but still it is the same thing. Well I decided to start a blog about my adventures in motherhood, starting a quilting business, going to school full time, all the while staying true to myself and not letting the romance die between my mate and I. These are my stories.

I little about my self. I am 32 years old, I live in a small town in Florida with my mate, my mother in law, our 3 year old son, and 7 year old step daughter. We have 4 dogs, 3 cats and a Tortoises. I started my own quilting business a little over a year ago called Quilt In The Woods. I also am a full time student to become a physicians assistant.  I fell in love with quilting about 2 1/2 years ago. I was converting prefold diapers into that worked better for my son and I.  They say that once you do one quilt, you either love it or hate it. I loved it.  Here is a picture of  "Agasgv's Quilt"

That was 2010 and I have been quilting ever since. The more time goes by, the more crafts and other fabric related projects I do. But quilting is my first love.
Speaking of quilting I am off to go play with my S-t-r-e-t-c-h-e-d 1906 Class 15 Singer...
